Alya is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Throughout her academic and professional journey, she has built a foundation in public service and strategic communications.

As an undergraduate, she supported state and federal advocacy for the University of Illinois System. She later interned for the Harris for President campaign and the DNC, as well as for State Senator Ann Gillespie and Representative Nikki Budzinski.

In the private sector, Alya was a part of Verizon’s Public Policy team, working on issues related to technology, regulation, and consumer access.

Originally from Arlington Heights, Illinois, Alya enjoys cooking, discovering new recipes, and going for runs.
